You unlock the ability to earn Challenge Tokens a little later than most of the other Resources, but while they’re one of the harder types to earn, they’re also one of the most rewarding, unlocking some of the funkiest suits and items. With that in mind, on this page we’ll explain not only what Challenge Tokens are, but also how to complete the various types of Taskmaster Challenges to earn them. On this page: Marked on your map with an orange circular icon, Challenges are set by the mysterious villain Taskmaster. There are four types of challenge, with each having a slighly different map icon:
Stealth Challenges Combat Challenges Drone Challenges Bomb Challenges
These test your ability to sneak, fight, and web sling and parkour at high and low altitudes respectively. There are three tiers for each: Amazing, Spectacular, and Ultimate, granting you one, two or three Challenge Tokens as a reward for each respectively, too. As with all Resources, there are a couple of uses for Challenge Tokens: buying new Spider-Man Suits you’ve unlocked, or buying Suit Mods, Gadgets, and Gadget Upgrades. Most of those become available to buy after you hit a certain level, but some have specific requirements, so you can read more on those in our guide to Spider-Man Suits and how to unlock them. Looking for more help? Our main Spider-Man walkthrough and guide is where you’ll find a hub of all our pages, or you can go straight to our guides to Resources, like Backpack Tokens, Base Tokens, Challenge Tokens, Crime Tokens, Research Tokens and Landmark Tokens, our big list of all Spider-Man suits, all Black Cat Stakeout locations, all Secret Photo Ops locations or, finally, our list of Spider-Man Circuit Puzzle and Pattern Puzzle solutions. The most important advice we can give here is to wait. You might take on one or two Challenges you encounter as you progress through Spider-Man’s story, but you’ll be much better at them once you get to the late or post-game, with more things like Skills and Gadgets unlocked, and a general sence of proficiency at all elements of the game. We also recommend you tweak your Suit Mods and Suit Power for the Challenge you’re tackling, too. Stacking those well - say, by combining the increased Focus generation from the Advanced Suit’s Power with some Focus and Healing-based Mods for a combat challenge - will make a big difference to your ability to complete them effectively. Likewise, you gradually increase things like your health, or web-slinging swing speed as you level up, too, so again it pays to tackle these late on. Finally, it’s worth noting that you can retry Challenges as many times as you like, so there’s no pressure to get them right the first time - although you’ll need to improve on your previous result and earn a higher tier if you want to earn more tokens!
